Our people division is growing, and we are looking for an Underground Engineering Superintendent at our Cortez underground operations. The Underground Engineering Superintendent should be very familiar with short range planning at large underground mines and be able to lead, manage, and supervise the team to ensure a high standard of support to the operation. This role will be responsible for coordinating all production scheduling including all infrastructure requirements and development detailed design work of ore areas as well as capital development. This position requires coordinating all site teams including fixed maintenance, electrical, shaft maintenance, mobile maintenance, operations, construction crew, technical teams (geotech and ventilation) as well as mineral resource management to ensure all inputs are considered into the planning cycle and optimized for the most efficient ore extraction.

- Provide leadership and systems which ensure the engineering team initiates interactions within the business units to deliver best practice services and innovations to their customers
- Participate in the overall management of the engineering department to ensure that production and profitability targets are achieved
- Principle functional responsibilities are tactical and strategic mine planning, mine design, surveying, projects, and construction
- Apply industry best practices to ensure the planning department is optimizing short range production schedules and resources are effectively utilized to avoid rework
- Lead the surveying groups to embrace the newest technology and a high-quality work product
Perform other duties as assigned.
- Eight (8) or more years’ experience working in an underground mining operation with a range of exposure to a broad spectrum of practical and technical areas required
- Extensive experience with underground short term mine planning at large UG mines required
- Ability to use Microsoft Office software required
- Ability to use Vulcan and Deswik computer systems required
- Good communication skills, both oral and written required
- Leadership and coaching skills required
- Financial management, evaluation techniques, and budgeting skills required
- Demonstrated ability to engage in productive conflict as part of a leadership team required
- Demonstrated ability to perform essential function of the position required
