JOB SUMMARY
The Legal Assistant/Paralegal will support the legal team with various legal and regulatory tasks, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations. Executive team and other departments, as needed. This role requires a proactive individual with strong research, organizational, and communication skills.
- Manage the legal project task/to-do items and update other members in the company on status
- Maintain, update and schedule calendar reporting deadlines appropriately for multiple industries – ability to learn compliance/regulatory requirements for each industry
- Assist with regulatory filings nationwide
- Assist in preparing, reviewing, and managing legal documents and contracts
- Assist with litigation files, subpoenas and discovery
- Conduct legal and regulatory research to ensure company compliance
- Maintain and organize regulatory filings and documentation
- Monitor changes in laws and regulations affecting the company
- Support the preparation of reports and submissions to regulatory agencies
- Track secretary of state filings nationwide and aid in forming new entities
- Coordinate with internal teams and external counsel as needed
- Draft correspondence, memos, and summaries related to legal and regulatory matters
- Support document management processes, including scanning, organizing and mailing label correspondence as needed
- Required: Familiarity with legal or regulatory concepts gained though coursework, internships, volunteer work, or academic projects
- Required: Strong interest in working within legal, regulatory or compliance environments.
- Required: Must be experienced with Microsoft Word, Excel, Teams, Adobe, and general office software
- Preferred: Prior work-related experience filing in state and federal courts
- Preferred: Paralegal certification
- Ability to meet highest attendance requirements
- Ability to handle multiple tasks concurrently
- Ability to use personal computer, calculator, etc.
- Could involve some lifting up to 20 pounds
- Ability to sit for extended periods of time without much movement
- Ability to work in time-sensitive environment with non-flexible deadlines
- Ability to take initiative and support colleges across tasks and projects, contributing to a positive and inclusive team dynamic
- Ability to foster strong working relationships though respect, reliability and a team-focused mindset, celebrating group successes and stepping into assist with challenges arise
- All candidates must have the ability to speak, read and write English
