The Corporate Development Manager will play a critical role in shaping the strategic growth and evolution of ENMAX. Reporting to the Director, Corporate Development, this individual will be responsible for identifying, evaluating, and executing strategic initiatives, including mergers and acquisitions (M&A), divestitures, joint ventures, strategic partnerships, and new business development opportunities aligned with the company's long-term objectives. This role will also conduct market research to support the CEO and CFO.
This role requires a strong understanding of the energy industry, financial analysis, and project management, along with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Major Responsibilities:
•Strategy Development & Alignment: Collaborate with senior Finance leadership to understand and contribute to the development of the company's strategic priorities and identify opportunities for inorganic growth and strategic partnerships.
•Deal Sourcing & Origination: Proactively identify and evaluate potential M&A targets, joint venture partners, and other strategic opportunities within the electric utility sector and other regulated industries.
•Due Diligence & Valuation: Lead and manage the financial and operational assessments. Develop robust financial models and valuation analyses to support transaction decisions.
•Integration Planning & Support: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and support post-acquisition integration plans to ensure successful realization of synergies and strategic objectives.
•Market & Industry Analysis: Conduct in-depth research and analysis of industry trends, competitive landscapes, regulatory developments, and emerging technologies to inform strategic decision-making and identify potential opportunities and risks.
•Presentation & Reporting: Prepare and present clear and concise reports, presentations, and recommendations to senior management on potential transactions and strategic initiatives.
•Project Management: Effectively manage multiple corporate development projects simultaneously, ensuring timely completion of deliverables and adherence to timelines and budgets.
Education Required:
•Bachelor or Master’s degree in finance or a related field
Qualifications & Experience:
•Minimum of ten years of experience in a large company or large professional firm with capital markets experience
•Advanced knowledge of MS Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
•Electric or energy industry knowledge is essential
•Experience in investor relations, corporate strategy, equity research or investment banking
•Highly skilled in building robust financial models
•Working knowledge of Bloomberg system (or equivalent)

•Excellent written and communication skills and the ability to develop fact-based arguments and transmit information graphically
•Excellent ability to build and cultivate relationships – ability to lead and influence internal and external groups and decisions makers

Location: This role will be part of our hybrid (home and office) workforce with office workspace located at ENMAX Place (141 - 50th Avenue SE, Calgary, AB). You will work from home on Mondays and Fridays and in the office on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.
