Reporting to the Communications Supervisor, the Corporate Communications Specialist is responsible for developing and implementing omni-channel communications and marketing plans to support the organization’s strategic priorities and communications goals. This role requires a proactive individual who can anticipate needs, work independently, and continuously seek opportunities for learning and growth. The Specialist will create, edit, and distribute internal and external communications, manage social media presence, support corporate events, and ensure consistent and effective messaging across various platforms.
Note that this role will primarily be located out of our Waterloo office.

Experience/Education
•Minimum of two (2) years of experience in communications, marketing, or media relations.
•Demonstrated writing portfolio, including media releases, blog posts, and articles.
•Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills.
•Post-secondary degree, diploma, or certificate in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, Public Relations, or a related field.
•An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience will also be considered.
Major (Primary) Responsibilities
•Write, design, build, edit, and distribute internal and external communications through various channels, including social media, web, and print.
•Assist in the writing and editing of media releases.
•Support, maintain, and develop content for the corporate intranet.
•Represent the company at community events.
•Support the coordination and execution of corporate events, including Town Hall meetings.
•Monitor and manage issues that may impact the company’s reputation, identifying emerging concerns.
•Develop and manage social media content, responding professionally to inquiries where appropriate.
•Enhance brand personality by executing social media strategies aligned with the marketing and communications plan.
•Conduct research and present recommendations to improve communication materials.
•Identify effective communication approaches for different audience segments.
•Support market research efforts, including surveys and reporting.
•Maintain analytics reports for web, social media, and communications efforts.
•Research and write award applications.
•Assist internal stakeholders in creating customer-facing materials that align with accessibility standards (AODA).
•Perform other duties as required.
