Core Logging Geologist

New Found Gold Corp. is a leading gold exploration company headquartered in Gander, Newfoundland & Labrador. We are looking for Core Logging Geologists to join our team on a temporary basis (3-4 months). We offer flights and/or mileage to site, comfortable company housing, competitive wages and a great work atmosphere.

Schedule:

15 days on (includes travel days) and 13 days off, 7am to 7pm.

Duties:

Reporting to the Project Geologist of the Company or designate, the Core Logging Geologist is responsible for, but not limited to:

§ Logging of diamond drill core and preparation of reports related to drill core logging.

§ Periodically performing field activities related to diamond drilling, visiting and working around diamond drills.

§ Periodically directing field crews and diamond drilling contractors working on the project.

§ As required working in the field to conduct surficial mapping, sampling and geological investigations.

§ Working with GIS, Leapfrog and related software and managing data related to field activities.

§ Compilation and digitization of historical work reports and working with the database manager to ensure the ongoing maintenance of the company’s digital databases.

§ Preparation of reports and files related to drill core, maps, sections, other.

§ Directing other staff, specifically core labourers and geotechnicians to assist in the processing of drill core.

§ Working with the management and geological teams to develop and implement a standards manual to ensure proper safety procedures are followed.

§ Following all Health, Safety and Environment (“HSE”) policies and standards implemented by the Company. Supporting the development of the Company's specific HSE policies and standards.

§ Performing other related duties as required.

Qualifications:

§ Geology or Environmental Sciences Degree.

§ Experience preferred.

§ Strong work ethic and good organizational skills.
