About this opportunity:
Reporting to the Senior Manager, Automation, Measurement and IOC, the Conventional Automation Manager will be responsible for overseeing the design, implementation, and optimization of automation and operational technology systems across the conventional natural gas operations. This role will ensure secure, reliable, and compliant OT/SCADA environments that enable safe, efficient, and cost-effective production across fields, plants, and pipelines.
What you’ll do:
- Collaborate with Operations, Engineering, Integrated Operations Centers (IOC), and Measurement teams to standardize automation practices, improve alarm rationalization, enhance measurement accuracy, and support advanced remote monitoring and predictive maintenance.
- Establish & maintain RACI governance models, clarifying roles and responsibilities across Operations, Production Services, SCM, and Project Engineering.
- Manage vendor relationships, negotiate supply chain efficiencies, and oversee budget planning to support automation strategies and ensure team competency and training.
- Lead the development and execution of multi-year automation roadmaps, including lifecycle management of PLC/RTU infrastructure and strategies to minimize downtime and capital exposure.
- Manage and modernize SCADA systems including alarm management, HMI/graphic upgrades, and workflow enhancements.
- Govern cybersecurity compliance (BCER, AER, CER) and lead the development of secure PCN architectures to mitigate both cyber and physical threats, ensuring reliable information access.
Who you are:
Our ideal candidate will have the following minimum requirements:
- Legally authorized to work in Canada
- Minimum 12 years working experience in instrumentation/measurement/control systems and operations environment
- A member in good standing or eligible for registration with APEGA or equivalent Technologist designation
- Experience in Conventional oil & gas operations is considered an asset
