Job Summary:

Please note, with the recent opening of our new factory in Michigan and billing of orders through our US sister company, Safety Power America Inc., we require experience with US and Canadian tax. Below is a list of the primary tasks to be completed by the financial controller.

Main Duties/Responsibilities:

- Manage and oversee all aspects of the accounting department, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and account reconciliation.

- Prepare accurate financial statements and reports in accordance with regulatory standards and company policies.

- Conduct account analysis to identify discrepancies and implement corrective actions as necessary.

- Manage two accountants.

- Lead the annual audit process by liaising with external auditors and preparing necessary documentation.

- Work closely with the Finance Manager and CFO on initiatives such as budgeting, transfer pricing and ad hoc analysis.

- Assist with compliance with provincial, state (for the USA) and federal tax returns and related filings, prepare supporting calculations and payments.

Compensation and Work Arrangement:

- Full-time, Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours per week.

- Salary: $120k to $150k/per annum, depending on experience.

Qualifications:

- Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Accounting or Finance.

- CPA designation.

- At least 5 years’ experience as a Financial Controller or similar role.

- Strong US tax knowledge and experience.

- Proficiency in accounting software (experience with QuickBooks is an asset).

- Excellent analytical skills with attention to detail for accurate reporting.
