The Control Room Operator is responsible for the safe work of the production crew during his/her shift. The Control Room Operator will control the holding furnace, degasser, and casting pit using computers, sensors, and cameras. This position will work closely with the Crew Lead and Supervisor to ensure production needs are met and safety is followed throughout the process.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities (Include the following. Other duties will be assigned as deemed necessary by operations & staff management)
- Control the holding furnace, caster, and related equipment.
- Operate and maintain the control room.
- Assist the Crew Lead in daily activities.
- Maintain established quality standards.
- Maintain up to date knowledge of alloys, practices, and procedures.
- Ensure quality of all products produced will meet requirements and specifications.
- Maintain schedule to ensure production needs are met.
- Record and maintain pertinent production data in an accurate manner.
- Inform management about potential issues that may arise or are currently affecting production in a timely manner.
- Evaluate production and seek to provide continuous improvement for the casting process.
- High school diploma or GED from an accredited institution
- Employee must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire; Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
- Must pass minimal physical test and background screening.
- Candidates must be able to work any shift (will need to specify what the shifts are)
- Physical effort required by the job includes standing, stooping, pulling, pushing, climbing, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
- Willingness to cross train
- If driving is required to complete the essential functions of this position, a valid driver’s license is required.
- Must satisfactorily complete the Ellwood Aluminum Crane and Forklift certification training programs.
