Accountable for activities relating to TVA’s involvement with industrial development and power supply matters for prospective new or expanding companies to encourage them to locate in the TVA region in order to attract new jobs and capital investment. Position work directly with General Manager of Global Business, Manager of Field/Regional Operations and Target Market Consultants, Regional Industrial Development Associations, TVA local power companies, state economic development partners, local communities, community development, small and disadvantage business development, site selection consultants and private company executives in creating opportunities for growth. Serves as subject matter expert, functional lead, and resource for special projects and other ED positions. Promote and deliver TVA ED programs and services such as financial assistance (loans and other incentives), technical services, existing business programs, community development projects, and other initiatives.
Budget Responsibility - FY 26-28, $19 to $33 million
- Works toward achieving TVA ED goals related to job creation/retention, new capital investment, and other measures.
- Serves as consultant for department wide priorities in annual community strategy planning, as well as Develops and implements community strategy linking all TVA resources with each community they serve.
- Coordinate TVA’s ED activities and be the Relationship Manager with LPCs, state economic development agencies, regional industrial development associations, community leaders, local economic development professionals, site selection consultants, and/or other appropriate economic development contacts.
- Serve as a liaison between business prospects and various TVA organizations to promote and deliver TVA services such as rate credit programs, marketing services, power supply improvements, and other appropriate services.
- Market assigned TVA service territory and its communities to business prospects including prospective industries, expanding industries, and other large business prospects.
- Be the Account Manager for TVA programs and services in assigned territory that includes offering and delivering $30 - 35 Million to their region.
- Responsible for assisting assigned TVA service territory and its communities with:
- Generating project proposals / RFIs in response to prospect request.
- Building capacity to attract business and grow economically through Community Development programs
- Initiate, develop, and support existing industry initiatives in the region.
- Knowledge of the region’s ED assets such as industrial property, available buildings, speculative buildings, etc.
- Utilizing available financial assistance programs and funds.
- Developing strategy, competitiveness and readiness for long term economic growth opportunities
- Manage projects to ensure that they are initiated, managed, documented, and completed on schedule.
- Maintain accurate information on assigned projects and provide updates for inclusion in reports and project tracking databases (CRM)
- Serve as a primary ED resource to the region
- Meet with and make presentations to business leaders of prospective new and expanding business operations in the TVA region
- Provides an advanced level of expertise and assistance, including:
- Independently leading task teams within the ED department
- Advise management of significant internal and external opportunities and challenges
- Perform other duties and lead on special projects as assigned by ED management
Education. — A Bachelor’s degree in business, sociology, planning, economics or a related field of study
Experience. — A minimum of 8 years of experience working in economic development programs, including at least 5 years of advanced level of Economic Development experience is required.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities — Knowledge of economic development principle and practices. Ability to deal productively, diplomatically, and tactfully both public and private sector leaders. Demonstrated success in developing and maintaining working partnerships. Advanced knowledge of the Tennessee Valley region and a good understanding of TVA’s power program and its relation to TVA’s economic development programs and products. Excellent listening, oral and written communications skills. Candidate may be required to obtain and maintain a security clearance based on position / access requirements and essential job functions.
