This is a triple hat opportunity. The Superintendent will oversee daily field operations of specific projects. The Superintendent role requires to oversee the production aspects including production quality. While also managing and performing the daily QC responsibilities of specific projects to ensure the project is constructed in accordance with the established minimum standards. The SSHO will ensure that all personnel working on the project, including vendors, are following safety standards and protocols according to OSHA. Responsible for the compliance with the safety program, EM 385 1.1.
This full-time position is located Norfolk, VA
Duties:
•Must be knowledgeable in electrical, HVAC, plumbing, carpentry, roofing, tiling and several other architectural finishes, landscaping, doors & windows, and other building /repair trades.
•Must be able to maintain several projects at once complying with strict safety, quality and technical protocols and can take a job from start to completion.
•Must possess excellent communication and leadership skills and be highly organized and result-oriented with the ability to get the work done from subcontractors.
•Must be able to work closely with people of diverse backgrounds and levels of authority.
•Must be computer literate and able to generate various construction reports pertaining to safety and quality.
•Must complete, daily documentation of work, understand subcontractor scope of work to avoid unnecessary change orders, and identify problems early and act immediately to provide solutions
•Review shop drawings and submittals for conformance with project specifications by direct review and by leveraging the knowledge and experience of others in the project team when necessary
•Chair and document weekly QC meetings with the superintendent and provide written minutes as described in project specific contract documents
•Provide daily QC reports that reinforce activities that are being constructed in conformance with each specific project's established standard and constructively confronts non-conformances to produce the desired outcome in a timely manner
Experience:
Minimum ten years’ experience in the construction industry with a general contractor engaged in general building construction
•Knowledge of a wide range of construction materials, methods, and techniques
•Experience working with NAVFAC will be a plus.
•Must be trained - OSHA 10 or 30 hour and First aid — CPR,
•Must be trained - US Army Corps of Engineers Quality Control Management Certification
•Must be familiar with the most recent requirements of USACE EM-385-1-1 and federal, state, and local rules and regulations
•Must be eligible to legally work in the US or have US Citizenship.
•Must be able to clear Pre-employment Drug Testing and Background Check.
