The Construction Supervisor fosters an environment of excellence in construction execution, as well as building a culture of providing solutions, not problems. They are responsible for the organization of the day-to-day activities on the job site. The Supervisor will ensure that activities are being completed safely and efficiently all while upholding a strong dedication to quality and will be proficient in all areas of substation construction. The Supervisor works closely with the Construction, Project and Fleet Managers to ensure that projects are profitable and delivered on time.
- Formal Supervisor training is considered an asset
- Leadership for Safety Excellence (LSE) training is considered an asset
- 5+ years’ experience as a Journeyperson involved in Earthworks construction- Proficient at Earthworks construction execution and planning
- General knowledge of the Alberta utility network, code and regulations.
- Ability to coach and mentor apprentices
- Comfortable with computer software such as excel, word and pdf editors
- Ability to communicate effectively with co-workers and clients
- Uphold core corporate values
- Order project required materials under a value of $1000
- Provide positive examples of conduct, safety and mentoring to direct reports
- Hold daily tailboard and close meetings with direct reports
- Supply daily reports to clients, Iconic construction and project managers
- Review project safety, security and environmental policies and procedures with direct reports
- Ensure project quality requirements are completed and that all quality replated reports, checklists, photographs and as-builts are completed properly.
- Review and understand corporate policies/procedures.
- Review and understand project schedule/milestones
- Participate in resource planning with construction, project and fleet managers
- Assist construction manager with the evaluation of direct reports
- Submit daily timesheets to Iconic office and help manage/minimize overtime
- Monitor discrepancies between bid and post-award work scope
- Coordinate day to day work scope with foreman on large scale projects
- Manage project to man hours estimated in proposal. Report deviations from man hour estimated to PM.
- Identify any field level scope changes to PM and CM for pricing and client approval
- Deliver projects in alignment with the Construction Execution Plan
- Ensuring every team member gets home safely.
- Ensuring all projects are profitable and meet or exceed proposal margins.
- Ensuring all direct reports complete the duties in their respective job descriptions.
