The role of Construction Project Superintendent must be highly organized to oversee on-site operations and ensure projects remain on schedule, efficiently managing the flow of materials, deliveries, and equipment. This role is critical in coordinating all on-site construction activities, maintaining safety standards, and ensuring quality control. The Project Superintendent will work closely with subcontractors, suppliers, and project teams to drive productivity and achieve project goals. This is a full-time position reporting to Management.
Develop and implement a comprehensive project schedule to ensure efficient sequencing of work.
Organize and manage project workflows, ensuring all work aligns with contract documents.
Maintain a strong working knowledge of owner contracts, subcontracts, and purchase orders.
Regularly update and monitor construction schedules, submittal deadlines and project milestones in coordination with project teams.
Generate and maintain accurate and complete Daily Reports.
Act as the primary point of contact for all on-site construction activities.
Foster open communication with subcontractors to coordinate materials, equipment, and inspections.
Proactively resolve scope conflicts and project challenges to maintain momentum.
Conduct and lead on-site meetings, ensuring all team members are aligned on objectives.
Monitor and control field costs to ensure subcontracted work is completed efficiently and within budget.
Supervise the field workforce to optimize productivity while maintaining cost-effectiveness.
Maintain a solid understanding of construction equipment and its optimal utilization.
Assist in change order review and validation of subcontractor payment requests.
Implement and enforce company safety policies and procedures, ensuring all work complies with contract and government standards.
Conduct regular safety inspections, addressing any hazardous conditions or work habits.
Promote a safety-first culture, ensuring all workers adopt an incident- and injury-free mindset.
Maintain a clean and organized job site at all times.
Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, holding an active OSHA 30 certification.
Oversee and enforce corporate quality control (QC) policies and procedures.
Remain proactive in identifying potential issues before they arise.
Ensure punch lists are completed promptly and thoroughly to meet project closeout deadlines.
Adhere to company policies, including those outlined in the employee handbook and environmental guidelines.
Maintain a professional demeanor and demonstrate strong problem-solving and decision-making skills under pressure.
Perform other job-related duties as assigned while maintaining a high level of situational awareness and safety.
5+ years of experience in a construction superintendent role with a commercial contractor or equivalent industry experience.
Strong technical expertise in construction management and field operations.
In-depth knowledge of construction scheduling, contract administration, equipment management, and workforce allocation.
Proven ability to lead on-site field operations and direct workforce activities efficiently.
Excellent communication and leadership skills to foster a collaborative work environment.
Problem-solving abilities with a proactive approach to adapting to project challenges.
High level of organizational skills to manage multiple priorities and deadlines effectively.
Working knowledge of OSHA regulations and applicable safety standards.
Ability to work closely with project teams, subcontractors, and vendors.
Proficiency in construction software, including Microsoft Excel, Word, Project, Teams, Autodesk Cloud (or similar), Building Connected (or similar) and Bluebeam,
Extensive knowledge of construction documents, scheduling, materials, and cost control.
Strong understanding and appreciation of construction safety processes and enforcement.
Ability to create an environment where safety first is the culture and all trades people work with an incident and injury free attitude
Valid drivers license and ability to pass a pre-employment physical, drug screening, agility test, and 7-year background check.
Bachelors degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field preferred but not required with equivalent experience.
