Plains is currently looking to fill the position of a Construction Specialist located out of our Olds field office and will be responsible for the coordination of multiple construction projects related to our pipelines and facilities. Extensive knowledge and understanding of midstream construction in Canadian and U.S. jurisdictions will be required. #plains

Responsibilities:
•Provide construction support on pipeline integrity digs.
•Assist Operations and Project Managers in establishing and maintaining construction schedules and construction budgets.
•Coordinate and support activities including construction estimating, construction schedule management, construction cost control, workface planning, productivity enhancements, HSE & quality performance management.
•Review, develop and provide input into construction bid packages, construction execution plans for the various projects.
•Participate in construction bid reviews and clarification of contractors with regard to scope of work, schedule, safety and cost.
•Implement health, safety and environmental procedures on site in accordance with legislation and company policy to ensure the safety of all workers and protection of the public.
•Coordinate the onboarding of new Construction Technicians as required.
•Provide training and guidance to the Construction Technicians during the execution phase of the projects.
•Coordinate and assignment of Construction Technicians to various projects.
•Attend project meetings at the jobsite as required.
•Participate and coordinate in monthly jobsite safety assurance audits, quality reviews and audits.
•Maintain good relationships with operations, engineering, contractors, subcontractors and other key people associated with the projects.
•Track and report safety ticket compliance for active Construction Technicians.
•Track and report competency requirement for active Construction Technicians.
•Coordinate construction job progress meetings with contractors and the project management team.
•Review team safety training, ensure all is up to date and tracked correctly.
•Work closely with the teams responsible for the development and maintenance of our governance programs (regulatory, damage prevention, environment, land and integrity).
•Coordinate the generation of Change Orders (CO) through the internal Contingent Workforce for contract workers. Revise as required.
•Provide back up support to Construction Technician, oversee field execution of projects when necessary.
Qualifications:
•Minimum 5 years as a construction specialist or technician with experience in pipeline integrity dig programs.
•Minimum 5-10 years of Operations or Construction experience.
•GD Level II Certification.
•Ability to read and interpret drawings.
•Previous experience in coordinating multiple contractors on multiple construction projects.
•Successful achievements in a construction specialist or technician role directing construction and executing projects, pipeline integrity digs, pipelines, shutdowns, and maintenance contracts.
•API 1169 Pipeline Construction Inspector Certification is an asset.
•API 653, API 510, API 570 an asset for candidates involved on tank and vessel work.
•Essential skills and experience in planning, scheduling, cost control, safety and construction technology.
•Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a positive team orientation is required.
•Self-starter with a strong work ethic and the desire to exceed everyday expectations.
•Ability to travel to various projects frequently upon request.
•Intermediate level MS Projects.
•Intermediate level MS Word/Excel/PowerPoint.
•Valid driver’s license with a clean abstract
•Cleared criminal history (background) and satisfactory reference checks
•Compliance with the Company’s drug and alcohol policy including pre-employment D&A testing
