Description
This is a critical support position for a busy underground utility construction company. As a Laborer, daily work will involve placement of plastic gas main or electric conduit. Most of the work is underground/excavation projects which includes frequent shovel work.
Requirements
•
Assists crew leader in construction, reconstruction and maintenance work
•
Assists equipment operators by spotting/swamping, hand digging and locating underground obstructions
•
Drives commercial vehicles equipped to transport a variety of materials and equipment
•
Complete daily paperwork in an accurate manner
•
Ensures the truck has current licenses, tags, permits, and proof of insurance
•
Works with specialized equipment including jackhammers, rotary drills, demo saws and other industry tools
•
Signals equipment operators to facilitate alignment, movement, and adjustment of machinery, equipment, and materials
•
Works safely around backhoes, excavators, trenchers and dump trucks
•
Cleans and prepares construction sites to eliminate possible hazards
•
Commitment to safety in all work
•
1-3 years of experience in a labor-intensive environment
•
1-3 years of experience in the construction is preferred
•
Ability to stand, walk, bend, twist, kneel, grasp, push, pull and reach on a frequent basis throughout the day. Must be able to lift-up to 40 pounds on a frequent basis and up to 75 pounds on an occasional basis
•
Time management skills
•
Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
•
Valid DOT Medical Card will be required upon hire
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $22.00 - $25.00 per hour
