The Construction Inspector (“Inspector”) provides inspection and construction observation services supporting utility construction projects within the Clay County Utility Authority (CCUA) water and wastewater treatment and facilities. This role oversees contractors installing all utilities and ensures those utilities are installed in conformance with specifications, permits, regulatory standards, and other compliance regulations.
Perform inspection activities to ensure projects are in conformance with specifications, developer agreements, regulatory permits, and accepted industry standards. Review project plans and identify if fully functional for acceptance to begin operation.
Provide oversight and inspection of all utility installation activities. Oversee contractor services. Completes development reports on a daily basis.
Perform testing activities to ensure compliance, including pressure testing of water, reuse, and force mains. Locate wire testing.
Perform steps to chlorinate and de-chlorinate water mains to ensure all lines are free from contamination.
Inspect gravity sewer main and services utilizing closed-circuit television equipment.
Flush water, reuse, and force mains to ensure proper functionality in preparation for acceptance.
Facilitate ongoing communication with contractors to coordinate work and testing.
Manage and perform project close-outs, including completion of all end-of-project paperwork and final inspections.
Utilize knowledge of as-built process to complete reviews and ensure compliance.
Participate in preconstruction and status meetings to ensure compliance with project scope and timelines.
Minimum of four years of experience in water distribution and construction of water distribution systems.
Valid driver’s license issued by the State of Florida and have a satisfactory driver's record based on the criteria listed in the Clay County Utility Authority handbook.
