Join Our Team as a Concrete Technician!
Are you passionate about hands-on work and ensuring quality in materials testing? G3 is looking for a Concrete Technician to support our materials testing operations. In this role, you’ll perform concrete trial batching, as well as testing on concrete, masonry, and aggregates in a lab setting. Concrete Responsibilities•Oversee all concrete testing in the Cerritos laboratory.
•Oversee and perform concrete trial batches in Cerritos, Bakersfield, Redlands
•Manage all trial batch materials inventory in Cerritos, Bakersfield, and Redlands.
•Approve concrete Toss/Holds list for Cerritos, Bakersfield, and Redlands.
•Coordinate material pick up from suppliers for trial batches.
•Schedule concrete trial batches in Cerritos, Bakersfield, Redlands
•Be the lead training resource for concrete and masonry testing.
•Track all trial batch testing and review for accuracy (i.e., breaks, shrinkage, maturity, set time) throughout Cerritos, Bakersfield, and Redlands laboratories.
Testing
•Run multiple tests on concrete or aggregates as directed.
•Perform measurements and calculations.
•Prepare and perform concrete trial batches as directed.
•Proficiently perform and be certified in all tests outlined below:
•Perform specialized concrete testing such as split tensile, dry shrinkage, modules of elasticity, concrete core density, and water demand in a concrete mixture.
•Split samples up into specific weights for testing. Use equipment, including ovens and shakers, to perform tests and take measurements.
•Follow instructions and manage time effectively to maintain a productive workflow.
•Troubleshoot specimen failures and provide further guidance.
Data Entry/Processing
•Enter data and measurements into testing form template with a high level of accuracy and in a timely manner.
•Review and maintain the concrete laboratory log and the concrete digital log.
•Prepare and distribute daily concrete break list for all types of specimens.
•Prepare and submit chain of custody’s for specimens to be run by outside laboratories and submit to laboratory supervisor.
•Prepare and submit the concrete hold list for the concrete director’s approval to discard specimens.
Laboratory Support
•Follow all safety protocols to ensure a zero-incident workplace.
•Maintain a clean and organized laboratory environment.
•Assist with unloading and logging testing samples.
•Perform the following activities with accuracy and within a timely manner:
+ Stripping cylinders and placing them in tanks
+ Consolidation of tanks and removal of holds
+ Splitting aggregates and drying back materials
•Log time accurately and with appropriate detail.
•Assist with training on concrete testing procedures to new or existing technicians.
•Perform additional tasks as assigned to support lab operations.
Required Certifications:
•ACI Field Testing Technician Grade 1
•ACI Strength Testing Technician
Preferred Certifications:
•CTM 521, CTM 523, CTM 524, CTM 539, CTM 533 (a plus, to be obtained in the role)
Compensation
•Pay Rate: $25.00 - $35.00 per hour, Depending on Experience
