CAT 3600 Mechanic – Rotator is responsible for performing maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on CAT 3600 series engines and related equipment. This role requires a strong electrical troubleshooting background and the ability to work in a rotational schedule. The mechanic will work directly with internal teams and clients to ensure equipment is functioning correctly and operating at peak efficiency.
Skills & Abilities:
•Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing mechanical and electrical issues on CAT 3600 series engines.
•Ability to interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals.
•Strong electrical troubleshooting skills, including working with PLCs, sensors, and control systems.
•Experience using engine diagnostic software and tools (e.g., CAT ET, other manufacturer software).
•Perform preventative maintenance (PM) with minimal guidance and ensure high-quality work.
•Conduct repairs and field service calls independently with limited supervision.
•Knowledge of safety procedures and compliance with industry standards.
•Maintain accurate service documentation and submit reports in a timely manner.
Responsibilities:
•Perform maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on CAT 3600 series engines and auxiliary equipment.
•Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues, ensuring timely and efficient resolutions.
•Conduct inspections and performance assessments to maintain equipment reliability.
•Work in rotational shifts, often in remote or high-demand environments.
•Ensure compliance with company health, safety, and environmental (HSE) standards.
•Provide support and guidance to junior technicians as needed.
•Collaborate with operations and engineering teams to optimize equipment performance.
•Follow maintenance standards checklists and ensure all work meets company and industry specifications.
•Perform additional duties as assigned.
Additional Requirements:
•High school diploma or equivalent (preferred).
•Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
•Minimum of 10 years’ experience in working with CAT 3600 series engines, industrial equipment, and electrical systems.
•Hands-on experience with diesel and gas engines, including training in CAT, Waukesha, or related equipment (preferred).
•Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
•Strong adaptability to changing work environments and schedules.
•Ability to train and mentor less experienced mechanics when required.
•Must provide own tools up to 1 ¼”; specialized tools will be provided by the company.
Work Conditions & Expectations:
•Rotational schedule (e.g., 2 weeks on, 2 weeks off, or as required).
•Must be able to work in challenging environments, including extreme weather conditions.
•Overtime, nights, and weekends may be required based on workload.
