SUMMARY OF THE ROLE

The Control Room Operations Assessor supports and assists the Training Director in implementing and maintaining the Competency Assurance Management System (CAMS) for LNG Control Room Operations personnel. The role is responsible for assessing the performance and competence of control room operators across various tasks and activities, ensuring they meet the requirements of competence assurance standards. The Assessor conducts control room assessments, simulator-based evaluations, and provides verification of competency for safety-critical tasks. The position will be in Brownsville, TX.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

+ Assess the performance of control room operators and their related knowledge across various tasks, ensuring demonstrated competence meets CAMS standards and regulatory requirements. + Deliver technical training programs through simulator-based instruction and classroom training, such as:

- LNG process and plant operations

- DCS and safety systems

- Emergency response procedures

- Control room operations and handover

- Startup and shutdown procedures

+ Support the development and maintenance of role competency profiles for control room operators, including identification of safety-critical tasks. + Conduct simulator-based assessments and observations to evaluate operator competency in areas such as:

- Normal control room operations

- Plant startup and shutdown

- Emergency and abnormal situations

- Process upset handling

- Safety system operations

- Alarm management and response

+ Planning/development and execution of simulator training. + Support the development of detailed plans and scenarios for simulator activities, including scheduling and tracking. + Lead and assess training of personnel in compliance with Training Programs. + Verify completion of required training curriculum as documented in individual training plans before conducting competency assessments. + Document assessment results and provide detailed feedback to personnel and supervisors on competency gaps identified. + Support the Training Director in quality assurance activities to maintain integrity of the competency assessment process. + Assist in developing and maintaining assessment tools, simulator scenarios, and verification processes. + Participate in pre-commissioning and commissioning activities to assess operator readiness. + Monitor the delivery of training according to regulations and customers' requirements. + Support implementation of safety and security policies, procedures, and instructions for control room operations. + Perform operational duties as needed to support facility.


MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

+ 7+ years' experience in LNG or gas processing facility control room operations. + 5+ years' experience with operator training and competency development. + Experience with control room simulator training and assessment. + Experience with maintenance management systems and DCS platforms. + Must maintain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) card in good standing status. + Expert understanding of LNG plant operations and control systems. + Strong knowledge of DCS, safety systems, and alarm management. + Experience with operator training and competency development. + Knowledge of competency-based assessment methodologies. + Strong instructional and presentation skills. + Understanding of safety management systems and regulatory requirements. + Strong observation and evaluation skills. + Excellent written and verbal communication abilities. + Experience with learning management systems and simulator software. + Strong planning and organizational capabilities.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

+ Associate's degree in related technical field. + Formal assessor qualification. + Technical certifications in relevant operational areas. + Training/assessment certification.


Job Site Work Environment

Must be able to wear all necessary PPE equipment to perform job functions.
Operates in a complex construction environment.
Exposure to indoor and outdoor weather conditions.
Not necessarily protected from weather and temperature changes. Possible exposure to hot, cold, wet, humid, or windy weather conditions.
Exposure to moving mechanical parts and electrical circuits.
Exposure to constant or intermittent sounds of a pitch level sufficient to cause marked distraction.
Routinely uses standard office and field communications equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers w/scanner and fax, and radios.

Ability to drive to other Company work locations as required.
Ability to move throughout all areas of the facility, including being physically capable of traveling to a designed muster point during emergency situations.

The incumbent is required to have fully mechanical motion and usage of all extremities.
Physically able to walk, stand, bend, stoop, kneel, reach, twist, lift, push, pull, climb, balance, crouch, handle, and lift items weighing up to 20 lbs. without assistance.
Visual acuity corrected to perform job functions. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
Must be able to clearly communicate with others via radio, phone, and verbal methods.
May be required to enter confined spaces.
May be required to work at elevated heights and access elevated structures without assistance.
