The Compensation Specialist Sr will ensure current compensation practices are in line with the Company's compensation philosophy by developing, coordinating, and administering compensation programs. Responsibilities include performing analysis of both internal and external data, analyzing trends and marketplace information, implementing, administering, and developing base and variable pay compensation programs. Partners and collaborates with HR Center of Expertise, Country HR Leads and HR Business Partners to understand and execute job evaluation strategy and compensation programs by providing support and advice for compensation related issues. Acts as the subject matter expert by understanding and identifying business needs and addresses them by conducting analyses, creating and implementing innovative solutions to address key findings and remedy problems.
Description
•Conducts compensation analysis and market pricing of roles to proactively ensure the Valvoline Globals pay practices are competitive. Modifies compensation structures and conducts equity analysis of roles in response to changing organizational needs, market values and geographic differentials. Manages global compensation projects, pay equity, and survey management.
•Ensures job development follows career framework/architecture including the development of job descriptions and maintaining of systems. Partners with Human Resources and Business Leaders on the program. Assists in the development and maintenance of job descriptions, ensuring job responsibilities, scope and qualifications are accurately reflected. Partners with Human Resources to train on effective use of career framework/architecture and compensation offerings. Evaluates new job requests to identify alignment with existing jobs or determine need for new job including a review of existing structure as well as a market analysis and determination of FLSA status.
•Manages annual pay programs including annual pay cycle and short-term incentive process
•Participates in salary surveys and analyzes results to determine organization's market relationship including administration of compensation systems and tools. Researches and responds to questions, interprets policies, and assists with review of compensation issues. Performs ad-hoc analysis as needed.
•Collaborates with HRIS to ensure the integrity of employee and job data within HRIS system. Modifies and creates custom reports in HRIS system as needed. Liaises with HRIS to configure compensation-related business processes. Creates and updates compensation matrix/grids for incentive plans based on the business needs. Keeps abreast with compensation trends and changes and ensures Valvoline Global is aligned to any compensation changes e.g. FLSA, minimum wages, etc.
•Other duties and responsibilities as determined by Valvoline from time to time in its sole discretion.
Requirements
•Bachelor’s degree in human resources management, Business, Accounting, Finance or other related degree.
•5 years of experience of progressive experience directly related to the administration of compensation programs
•Thorough knowledge of compensation practices and processes. Solid understanding of state and federal laws and regulations relating to compensation.
•Strong quantitative and analytical skills and a detailed knowledge of compensation administration.
•Able to communicate optimally with internal and external customers of all levels, including executives.
•Strong project management and proficient presentation skills.
•Ability to organize and maintain a high level of objectivity and confidentiality. Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook
•Applied advanced knowledge and expertise of Compensation principles and best practices Advanced data analysis and spreadsheet skills.
•Strong communication and presentation skills
•Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
•Demonstrates independent thinking and decision-making abilities.
•Experience in a customer-facing, business partner role
•Experience in compensation, HRIS, SuccessFactors, MarketPay or WTW Compensation Software a plus
•Outstanding attention to detail and ability to organize work.
•Initiative and team-oriented mindset require.
•Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Excellent interpersonal skills; able to build strong business relationships with internal customers, external agencies, and vendors.
