Position Description

- Assist with/perform installation, maintenance, and testing of the Santee Cooper Bulk Communications System and Trunk Radio System. This includes but is not limited to microwave radios, fiber optic transports, DACS, channel banks, multiplexers, and the trunking radio system.

Essential Job Tasks:

- Assists with/performs installation, testing, analyzing and maintenance of the microwave radio, fiber optic transports and other equipment that comprise of the main transport devices for the Bulk communications System.

- Assists with/performs installation, testing, analyzing and maintenance of all voice and data circuits that are transported by the Bulk Communications System. This task includes but is not limited to SCADA, System Communications NMS System remote units, voice/data circuits for IT, Metering, Dispatch, OPX, Trunking radio, EPPS system and other miscellaneous circuit.

- Assists with/performs installation, testing, analyzing and maintenance of the trunking radio system. This includes all of the trunking related equipment at each remote site (repeaters, tower top amplifiers, BDAs) as well as mobiles and portables.

- Assists with/performs installation, testing, analyzing and maintenance of the tower lighting systems associated with designated FAA/FCC towers that require lighting and painting.

- Develops/possesses a working knowledge of the SONet, TDM, Ethernet and standard communication protocols.

- Assists with/performs installation, testing, analyzing and maintenance of the Digital Access Cross connect System (DACS) and the Energy Control Center Telephony (AVTEC) System.

- Creates and updates trouble tickets within the ticketing system (JIRA) to document system issues. This includes reported outages and identified maintenance tasks.

- Assists with/performs installation, testing, analyzing and maintenance of the cable systems utilized on the Bulk Communications System. This includes copper, fiber optic and Ethernet cables used by System Communications throughout the Bulk Communications System.

- Assists with/performs the review, maintenance and/or creation of accurate drawings associated with the Bulk Communications System. This includes ensuring that "As-Built" drawings are correct and returned to Communications Design in a timely manner.

Position Requirements

- - Will consider Communications Technician A, B or C

Communications Technician A - High School Diploma/GED + 5 years experience.

- Would consider someone with a high school diploma and military experience in the Communications field.

- Reading and interpreting electronic schematics, an understanding of communications systems and two-way radio communications is required.

Compensation Information:

$40.10 - $50.10 (min. - mid.)

Communications Technician B - High School Diploma/GED + 2 years experience.

- Would consider someone with a high school diploma and military experience in the Communications field.

- Reading and interpreting electronic schematics, an understanding of communications systems and two-way radio communications is required.

Compensation Information:

$29.45 - $36.80 (min. - mid.)

Communications Technician C

- High School Diploma/GED required.

- Reading and interpreting electronic schematics, an understanding of communications systems and two-way radio communications is required.

Compensation Information:

$23.85 - $29.80 (min. - mid.)
