What We Are Looking For
GVEC is looking to hire you for the position of Communication Technician I to deliver the unexpected with a willingness to continuously develop yourself, your department and our organization. As a Communication Technician I, you will help support a wide array of communication systems across a large geographic area. This role will be directly involved in leading and supporting various communications projects and system maintenance.
Your Pay
The minimum starting pay for this role is $3327.00/hr plus bonuses that are tied to a multitude of organizational benchmarks set forth annually. Pay will be determined by skills, qualifications and experience.
How You’ll Help
•Assist with the installation, maintenance and troubleshooting of associated Wireless (RF) and Fiber Optic technologies
•Acquire tower climbing, rescue and rigging certificates: authorized followed by competent
•Able to work on various physically demanding tasks to include high elevations
•Proficient in fiber splicing, testing and troubleshooting
•Skilled in power infrastructure support — UPS, DC Plants and generator plugs
•Comfortable conducting site surveys, interpreting diagrams and ensuring compliance with safety and technical standards
•Must be responsive and communicative during outages including working efficiently and effectively both internally and with other departments
•Must be capable of working on an on-call schedule, being responsive and alert to the network's health
•Have a basic understanding of the network and knowledge of the initial steps to resolve an outage, with clear and effective communication to keep all relevant parties informed

Preferred Experience/Skills
•Basic knowledge of RF and fiber test equipment. Examples: RF Spectrum analyzers, RF power meters, OTDR, Optical Power Meter and 1G & 10G Ethernet test sets
•Basic knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices and procedures of RF/Fiber Optics Ethernet based systems
•Basic knowledge of backup power fundamentals (UPS, DC Plant & Generators) and grounding standards
•Basic knowledge of security systems installation and maintenance (Cameras/Card Access)
•Basic knowledge of two-way radio systems
•Experience with Cambium PTP and PMP, Aviat, Dragonwave, Motorola, Smart PTT, Adtran TA5000, DWDM, Eaton UPS and Eaton DC Systems
