This position will report directly to the owners of Berkey Home Builders, Inc. and Berkey Construction. You will be accountable for the financial success of multiple projects and have a direct impact on the success of your team members. You will operate within the company’s goals set forth including but not limited to profitability, budget, timelines, customer satisfaction, and vision of Berkey.
The Commercial Construction Estimator and Project Manager is responsible for the cost control functions and project management for all construction projects . This will include estimates, analysis of archived data, comparison and feasibility, and present and historical cost reports.
Requirements:
Minimum 4 years of experience in estimating and project management
Ability to read and interpret commercials drawings, experience in construction terminology, and materials, and able to negotiate with vendors
Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent experience
Qualifications:
•Comprehensive construction knowledge
•Excellent estimating skills, the ability to envision the required needs of a project with or without each item outlined in construction drawings and documents
•Ability to mentally construct a building or project from drawings
•Excellent written and verbal communication skills
•Attention to detail demonstrated by accuracy, creative thinking, understanding balance within a project, prioritizing projects with or without deadlines put in place.
•Effective Communication skills; the ability to interact with individuals in the field, city officials, designers/architects, ownership, and customers
•Interpret and understand contract language and general conditions
•Identify business priorities both current and future, then act responsibly on those needs
•Leadership skills, being an example of positive actions and how your actions affect the success of projects, the company and co-workers.
•Understanding and ability to work needed hours based on the requirements of a project or work load
•Ability to manage multiple focuses such as concrete pours to vertical construction
Job Tasks:
•Project management from start to end of projects
•Establish and maintain project budgets and schedules
•Analyze production reports and create processed to improve production and lower project costs
•Draft subcontracts and purchase orders
•Create a schedule of values, submit periodic progress billings, and ensure payments
•Communicate with owners, superintendents, subcontractors and material suppliers
•Review and approve invoices from suppliers and vendors
•Examine submittals for projects and compliance with contracts
•Review time cards, project logs and other field paperwork
•Identify changes in the contract, create requests for information and estimate and coordinate change orders
•Perform quantity takeoffs, solicit and analyze quotes from subcontractors and suppliers and complete estimates and bids
•Ensure jobsite safety and trainings
Schedule:
•7 AM staff meetings on Thursday mornings
