Combat System Engineering Specialist for LBTF - NETE

Weir Canada, Inc. Halifax NS, Canada Permanent Full-time, Onsite work Purpose of Role:

Provide expertise in Land Based Test Capability (LBTC) and Facility (LBTF), as well as Independent Verification and Validation (IV&V) services in support of the Royal Canadian Navy (RCN). Offer multi-disciplinary engineering and technical services related to the River Class Destroyer (RCD) Naval Combat System. Weir Marine Engineering supports the RCD Project Management Office (PMO) within the Department of National Defence (DND) Office at the Bluenose building in Dartmouth, NS. The LBTC/LBTF Specialist will review, develop, and integrate mechanical systems, along with conducting IV&V activities in support of the RCD LBTC Test Program, primarily at the LBTF in Hartlen Point, NS.

The candidate may also support other project areas as required, including Integrated Test Evaluation and Acceptance (ITEA), Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), Performance Modelling and Simulation (M&S), and Synthetic Environment Support activities. - Design and Integration Development: Review, develop, and integrate mechanical sub-systems and systems into the LBTF by assisting through the detailed design of, equipment foundations, structural systems for integration and testing, interface specifications, equipment integration, and set to work activities.

- Verification & Validation (V&V): Executing V&V activities for systems, software, and hardware; evaluating test plans, procedures, scenarios, and results; ensuring traceability and meeting verification criteria; monitoring test activities; and identifying, documenting, and mitigating risks and anomalies.

- Technical Documentation: Reviewing technical documentation such as system requirements specifications, interface control documents, system design descriptions, hazard analysis reports, and equipment installation plans.

- Support to client: Maintaining positive, friendly, collaborative relationships with team members, and internal and external stakeholders. Liaison with subject matter experts, DND customers and suppliers

Job Knowledge/Education and Qualifications:

- Mandatory: Must obtain a Government of Canada security clearance, which necessitates Canadian citizenship and a minimum of 10 years of continuous residence in Canada.

- Mandatory: Engineering technologist diploma or Bachelor`s degree in Engineering or computer science, or candidates with equivalent military experience supporting the Royal Canadian Navy in combat system engineering.

- Desirable: 10 years of significant and recent experience in a related field, including familiarity with System, Software and Hardware Verification & Validation techniques and processes;

- Mandatory: Skilled in reading, writing, and speaking English, with the ability to effectively communicate at all levels (both in-person and electronically) with peers, supervisors, and clients. Capable of drafting reports, technical correspondence, and procedure manuals.

- Desirable: Proficiency in software configuration control, systems engineering lifecycle, requirements management tools, and knowledge in simulation, stimulation, and analysis tools.
