Job Summary
Responsible for effectively planning and directing activities of the machine shop, supervising shop personnel, engaged in machine operations to fabricate structural, metal products. Delegates and assigns duties to achieve efficient operation of the department while maintaining overall productivity to ensure job completion and internal/external customer satisfaction. Designs and develops tooling and processes for new products and improvement projects. Oversees and assures the programming, set up and operation of all equipment. Manages all aspects of the shop operations in an AS9100 production environment to meet the goals and objectives of the organization. Job Overview:
We are seeking a skilled CNC Programmer to join our team. As a CNC Programmer, you will be responsible for creating and modifying CNC programs to produce precision parts according to engineering specifications. This role requires strong mechanical knowledge, proficiency in CAD software, and experience with CNC machines.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Directly supervises employees in the Machine Shop in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Duties
•Develop and optimize CNC programs for machining operations based on engineering drawings and specifications
•Set up and operate CNC machines to produce parts with precision and accuracy
•Perform quality checks using coordinate measuring machines (CMM) to ensure parts meet required tolerances
•Collaborate with engineers and production teams to troubleshoot issues and improve machining processes
•Interpret blueprints and technical drawings to determine machining operations and tooling requirements
•Utilize CAM programming software to generate tool paths and optimize machining efficiency
•Maintain documentation of programming changes, tooling setups, and machine parameters
•Adhere to lean manufacturing principles to maximize productivity and minimize waste
•Ensure compliance with safety regulations and maintain a clean and organized work area
•Writes |reviews programs and provides oversight on set ups.
•Designs and develops tooling and for all new projects and creates machining concepts to improve existing processes.
•Prioritizes and maintains work schedules based on production load and ensures deadlines are met.
•Reviews the production|schedule needs to align manpower with tasks and schedule workload in shop.
•Ensures that products produced comply with quality standards and customer requirements.
•Oversees the training of Machine Shop personnel, including the cross training in the use of various equipment as well as the use of new equipment prior to installation.
•Maintains a high level of overall shop organization and housekeeping.
•Proven experience as a CNC Programmer or similar role in a manufacturing environment
•Proficiency in geometry, trigonometry, and blueprint reading
•Strong knowledge of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing)
•Familiarity with CAM programming software (e.g., AutoCAD)
•Experience with Fanuc controls is preferred but not required
Qualifications
Significant hands-on experience in CNC | conventional lathe and milling. Extensive knowledge of machine programming, setup and operation. Tool development and design. Demonstrated manufacturing management and technical leadership experience in job shop machining environment. Work well in a collaborative environment. Possess excellent verbal communication skills both verbal and written, to support effective correspondence with internal as well as external customers. In-depth understanding of the machining process.
