Plasma Table Operator - Structural & Miscellaneous Steel Fabrication

Lightning Steel, Inc. is a leading structural and miscellaneous steel fabrication shop specializing in stairs and handrails. We are currently seeking an experienced and skilled Plasma Table Operator to join our team.

This is a critical role for our shop. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the full operation of our plasma table, from cutting and nesting plate to ensuring all parts are accurately labeled. The ability to work with CAD software to generate plate files for the machine is a significant plus.

When the plasma table is not in operation, you will be expected to support our fabrication team by operating other equipment as needed. This includes using saws, shears, a press brake, and an ironworker.

Responsibilities:

- Operate and program our CNC plasma table to cut and nest steel plate.

- Generate plate files from CAD drawings and check them against provided drawings.

- Ensure all cut parts are accurately tracked, organized, and labeled.

- Maintain the plasma table and related equipment, ensuring a clean and safe work area.

- Assist with other shop tasks during downtime, including operating saws, shears, a press brake, and an ironworker.

- Help with grinding, organizing materials, and other general shop duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

- Minimum of 2 years of experience in CNC programming or as a plasma table operator (preferred).

- Experience with structural and miscellaneous steel fabrication is a plus.

- Proficiency in CAD software is a plus.

- High school diploma or equivalent (preferred).

- Strong attention to detail and ability to read and interpret technical drawings.

- Commitment to safety and a positive, team-oriented attitude.

Job Details:

- Job Type: Full-time

- Schedule: Full-time, hours and shifts may vary based on project needs (Monday to Friday, overtime and weekends as needed).
