Job Responsibilities:
•Load and unload parts into standard fixtures maintaining clean, chip and burr free surfaces.
•Load and tram in fixtures and machine vise jaws.
•Inspect manufactured parts to PCI, identify dimensional and cosmetic quality issues, and make necessary tool changes, offsets, or minor edits to correct the problem.
•Manage tool life by identifying signs of tool wear and making corrections before parts go out of print
•Perform set up inspection verification for other operators.
•Load and understand program structure, with full capability to read and understand G code.
•Perform routine maintenance (coolant changes, cleaning of machine, fill way oil, etc)
•Perform necessary secondary operations as required.
•Perform base alignment and probe qualification, using CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machine).
•Cross-train in other manufacturing areas to understand how upstream and downstream processes affect and are affected by the CNC milling process
•Keep up in fast pace production environment while still maintaining strict quality standards.
•Follow standard operating procedures including documentation
•Take ownership of area, ensuring cleanliness and organization standards are met or exceeded
•Work with other mill operators to drive towards continuous improvement applying lean manufacturing principles to all aspects of job function.
•Communicate potential process improvements or problems to supervisor and work with engineers to improve or correct issue.
Qualifications:
•A High School Diploma or GED equivalent, and 1-2 years of CNC manufacturing experience in a fast-paced production environment is required. Equivalency to the qualification standard will also be considered.
•Certificate in Manufacturing Technology preferred
•Familiarity with Haas and Mori controllers a plus
•Strong general math skills
•Able to understand and follow written/oral instructions.
•Experience in use and selection of proper inspection tools (micrometers, calipers, dial indicator, refractometer).
•General understanding of Cartesian coordinate system
•General reading of G Code
•Experience in fixture set-up, adjustments, and set-up verification
•Understand blueprints and familiar with GD&T
•Strong communication and problem solving skills with the ability to understand when results were not as expected and determine potential root cause
•Emphasis on quality with keen attention to detail
Working Conditions:
•Working Environment: Production floor position
•Physical Demands: Lifting up to 30 lbs. repetitively, 50 lbs. and standing for long periods of time.
•Travel Requirements: As needed, less than 5% of the time.
•Able to work in a manufacturing environment (exposure to dust, noise, oils and coolants, abrasives, heat, cold, adhesives, as well as automated and manual machinery).
•Standard PPE is required for this position including:
•Safety glasses with side shields and closed shoes required at all times in manufacturing areas.
•Arm sleeves and designated PPE gloves available when working with coolant; use as directed.
•Employees moving to any new position in manufacturing must comply with the PPE area requirements.
