Reports to: Machine Shop Manager
Position Overview
Responsible for setting up and operating CNC production equipment, working with process engineer on machine startup, and debugging new changes to programs.
Essential Job Functions
- Make production set-ups on production CNC machines.
- Mount and align fixtures, tools, and cutters.
- Select and load CNC programs required for part set-up and change over.
- Make cutter off-sets as required.
- Request, receive, and document the movement of the correct raw materials needed.
- Produce the 1st part and make any corrections required to reach approval.
- Gather the required documentation, gages, and all materials needed for production.
- Run production, or instruct an operator how to produce parts, meeting quality requirements.
- Maintain and repair production tools and fixtures.
- Assist with construction of new tools and fixtures as required.
- Verify conformance of machined or repaired tooling to specifications by checking dimensions, clearances, and alignments.
- Troubleshoot problems during production.
- Modify tooling to conform to engineering changes.
- Aware of all Health, Safety & Environmental policies.
- Recommends proposals for improving products, processes, systems, productivity and working environment.
- Know and understand Mfg. Quality policy and Quality Management System as related to their job function.
- Works in a safe manner and always observes plant safety rules and regulations.
- Promotes good housekeeping habits.

- High school Diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to read, write, analyze, create, and interpret technical procedures, diagrams, requirements and business correspondences.
- Must be proficient in using CNC Lathes and Milling Machines, Grinders, Drill Presses and Saws.
- Must be mechanically inclined.
- Ability to set-up and operate CNC Machines. (preferably Mazak’s and Doosan’s)
- Ability to trouble shoot problems with programs and machines.
- Must be proficient in assembly, machining, maintenance, layout, fixture repair, inspection, tooling design, Quality functions, tool and/or fixture building.
- Ability to stand for long periods of time.
- Ability to operate a forklift.
- Must be adaptable to changing work environment, competing demands and is able to deal with frequent change, delays, or unexpected events
