Position Summary:
The CNC Helper supports CNC (Computer Numerical Control) machinists and operators by preparing materials, maintaining equipment, and performing basic machine operations. This entry-level position is responsible for assisting in the setup, operation, cleaning, and general maintenance of CNC machines to ensure efficient and safe production processes.
Key Responsibilities:
•Assist CNC machinists with machine setup, tool changes, and operation support.
•Load and unload raw materials, components, or workpieces onto CNC machines.
•Clean and deburr finished parts using hand tools or power tools.
•Monitor machine operation to identify issues such as malfunctions or excessive wear.
•Perform basic measurements and visual inspections to ensure part quality.
•Maintain a clean and organized work area, following safety and housekeeping standards.
•Help with material handling, labeling, and staging parts for the next operation.
•Follow job travelers, blueprints, and verbal instructions as needed.
•Communicate with machinists or supervisors regarding production needs and issues.
•Report any equipment malfunctions or safety concerns immediately.
Requirements:
Qualifications:
•High school diploma or GED required.
•Prior experience in a manufacturing or machine shop environment is a plus, but not required.
•Basic mechanical aptitude and understanding of tools and machinery.
•Ability to read basic blueprints, work instructions, or technical drawings is a plus.
•Willingness to learn CNC programming and machining concepts.
•Good attention to detail and commitment to quality.
•Ability to stand, lift, and move parts/materials throughout the shift (up to 50 lbs).
Preferred Skills:
•Familiarity with calipers, micrometers, or other measuring instruments.
•Forklift or pallet jack experience.
•Exposure to CNC machines (mills, lathes, routers) or manufacturing environments.
Working Conditions:
•Manufacturing or shop floor environment.
•Exposure to noise, oil, metal shavings, and industrial equipment.
•Required use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
•Shift work may be required (day/night/weekend).
