Job Summary:
Fenagh Engineering & Testing is actively seeking a skilled and experienced Construction Materials Testing (CMT) Technician for field and laboratory testing services in the Austin area. This role is ideal for candidates with hands-on experience in soil, concrete, and asphalt testing, holding active ACI and TxDOT certifications. The technician will be responsible for executing tests, interpreting results, and supporting quality assurance in civil and commercial construction projects.
Key Responsibilities:
•Perform field and laboratory testing on construction materials including concrete, soils, asphalt, and aggregates.
•Conduct sampling and testing in accordance with TxDOT, ACI, ASTM, and AASHTO standards.
•Accurately document test results and observations in field reports.
•Interact with contractors, engineers, and project managers to relay findings and ensure adherence to specifications.
•Calibrate and maintain testing equipment.
•Ensure safety protocols are followed at all times on-site and in the lab.
Requirements:
•ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician – Grade I, TxDOT S102 Certification, or ICC Certifications in relevant special inspections (e.g., Reinforced Concrete, Soils, Masonry)
•Minimum 2 years of CMT or Special Inspection experience
•Strong understanding of construction drawings, specifications, and test procedures
•Valid driver’s license with clean driving record
•Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work outdoors in all weather conditions
•Clear communication and report writing skills
Preferred Qualifications:
•Multiple TxDOT certifications (especially in soil and aggregate testing)
•Nuclear Density Gauge training/certification (Troxler or Humboldt)
•Experience using field reporting software
