The CMM Programmer – Inspection is responsible for creating, maintaining, and running inspection programs on Coordinate Measuring Machines to ensure manufactured parts meet engineering drawings, customer specifications, and quality standards. This role involves both hands-on inspection and programming, as well as collaborating with engineering, production, and quality teams to resolve dimensional issues.
- Develop, modify, and optimize CMM programs using Calypso.
- Set up and operate CMM equipment to inspect complex components, assemblies, and tooling.
- Perform first article inspections (FAI), in-process checks, and final inspections.
- Interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, and customer specifications to establish inspection plans.
- Record and analyze measurement results; prepare dimensional inspection reports and FAIRs (AS9102 if applicable).
- Maintain calibration and verification of CMMs and other metrology equipment.
- Support root cause analysis and corrective action activities for non-conforming parts.
- Work closely with machinists, engineers, and quality team members to resolve dimensional discrepancies.
- Ensure all inspection documentation and results comply with ISO 9001 / AS9100 / IATF 16949 (or relevant quality system) requirements.
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or associate degree in manufacturing, quality, or related field preferred.
- 2–5 years of experience as a CMM programmer/inspection technician in a manufacturing environment.
- Proficiency in GD&T and blueprint reading.
- Strong working knowledge of metrology tools: micrometers, calipers, height gages, surface plates, optical comparators, etc.
- Experience with CMM programming software Zeiss Calypso.
- Familiarity with ISO/AS9100/IATF quality standards.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and within cross-functional teams.
7am to 4PM Monday - Thursdays & 7am to 11am on Fridays
As a CMM Programmer in the Machine Shop, you will be responsible for ensuring that all products meet stringent quality standards through effective quality audits and inspections. Reporting to the Quality Manager, your core skills in quality control and assurance will be essential in maintaining compliance with ISO 9001. Utilizing precision measuring instruments such as CMM, calipers and micrometers, you will analyze data to identify areas for improvement. Your proficiency in Microsoft Office and ERP systems will support efficient documentation and reporting, making you a vital part of our commitment to excellence in manufacturing.
