WAGE: $22.00 + $1.00 Shift Differential
SHIFT: 10 hour shifts: 3:30PM-2:00AM - Monday -Thursday,
JOB SUMMARY:
The Clean and Grind Operator performs the final stages of casting manufacturing before shipment to the customer. These tasks performed include all duties within the Clean & Grind department such as de-gating castings, sorting, grinding, cleaning, and other duties as required. This role has a combination of tasks in the department to achieve agreed upon performance levels with respect to job safety, quality, production, cost, housekeeping, and delivery.

PHYSICAL WORK ENVIRONMENT:
This position involves regular: bending and lifting; continuous standing for long periods of time on anti-fatigue mats; pushing, pulling, and carrying of heavy parts and machines repetitively, must be able to use arms, hands, legs and feet in repetitive motions. Must be able to wear required PPE including; safety boots, ear muffs, ear plugs, goggles, ear plugs, hard hat with face shield, leather apron, respirator.
QUALIFICATIONS:
•High school diploma or GED
•Knowledge of break-off, grinding, blasting and inspection preferred
•Prior foundry or heavy industrial work experience preferred
•Must be highly motivated and able to work independently
•Ability to follow directions, meet established grind quotes and show high attention to detailed required
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES and TASKS:
Conveyor
•Break-off gating from castings using hydraulic wedge or mall
•Sort gating into the proper PD/FD/GI bins
•Load, run and unload parts from the wheelabrators
•Operate equipment control panel as needed
Sorting Table
•Sort castings into appropriate bins after blast clean
•Inspect castings for visual defects
•Accurately identify and record scrap castings
•Read process sheets to determine job specific requirements
Grinding
•Uses a variety of tools such as 30” wheel and assorted hand tools to remove gates, parting lines, flashes
•Operates automated finishing machines
•Follows SOP and job specific instructions
•Maintains grind quota and high “on-standard” time. On-standard time reflects accurate log in to jobs and documentation of grind activity for the time dedicated to grinding
•Accurately inspect castings for visual defects
•Perform Tool inspections and report issues
•Create Pier Crate (Box/Pallet) with tare weight
Monday-Thursday 3:30PM-2:00AM
Training takes place on first shift.
