Acero Engineering Inc. (“Acero”), a dynamic company providing engineering, procurement and construction management expertise to the Oil and Gas industry is currently seeking a motivated and enthusiastic individual to fill a role as an Int./Sr Civil/Structural Designer.
Acero is focused on facility and pipeline engineering, procurement and construction management services; from concept evaluation to plant start-up. Our core service offering is in-house project management, process, mechanical, electrical, instrumentation and control engineering, project engineering, procurement, regulatory services, civil and structural engineering, and construction management.
Responsibilities
•Must be able to work independently (under the guidance of the Lead Civil Engineer) and have solid technical capability dealing with:
o Foundations and structural steel plans / layouts / details
o Working with other disciplines to develop drawings and construction packages
o Understanding of Structural materials (ie. specifications) and when to use what type of material / design / member
o Developing or altering standard project specifications to meet specific project requirements
o Integration of vendor drawings and materials into the overall design
o Drafting structural technical details and specifying dimensions, materials, and procedures using drawings, specifications and calculations using CADD software as directed by design team members as needed.
o Auto CAD, CADworks and Navisworks
•Must review and check engineer’s sketches and designs to ensure feasibility and compliance with client specifications, industry standards, applicable regulations and any other specifications; ensuring and verifying completeness of the drawing package.
•Must analyze designs for efficiency of construction, use of materials, structural integrity and practicality of design
Skills
•Minimum Education: Design drafting or civil/structural-related degree or diploma is required
•Minimum of eight (8) years’ Western Canadian experience working with CADworks and Navisworks
•3D Modelling capability is required. Candidate must be adept at running the model and extracting all of the necessary deliverables (MTO’s, iso’s and 2D drawings) from that model in the most efficient manner (ie. with minimum back-drafting effort).
•Must understand the pertinent codes and standards
•Speed, accuracy and the ability to work long hours as necessary to complete the work is an absolute must-have character trait
•Excellent team collaboration and interpersonal skills
•Strong written, verbal, analytical and critical thinking skills
•Proven ability to work under pressure and meet tight timelines as occasionally demanded by our clients
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $40.00-$52.00 per hour
Expected hours: 30 – 40 per week
