Chemistry Supervisor - Manufacturing, Metal Plating

Manages chemistry, lab testing, wastewater, and equipment affecting the process lines, including the purchasing and maintenance of all chemicals and/or equipment as needed.

Essential Job Duties/Responsibilities

- Manages the Chemistry Team regarding controls of process chemistry and production troubleshooting.

- Drives continuous improvement initiatives for the Lab and supports CI in production and quality functions.

- Strong knowledge of Anodize process related to the effects of bath chemistry and physical parameters.

- Works closely with the Corporate Technologies team to stay up to date on best practices and new technologies.

- Manages and monitors waste water treatment systems. Ensures Waste Water Treatment team is equipped to proactively support production needs.

- Participates in the coordination of tank maintenance.

- Works with Production to adjust chemical performances for specific customer needs.

- Performs monthly and quarterly process specification testing. Reports out on any delayed testing or missed KPIs during monthly chemistry meetings. Creates and executes action plan to correct any compliance concerns.

- Reporting of production line status to operational leadership.

- Establishes and monitors achievement of KPI’s of Lab Techs and Chemistry Departments.

- On call for chemical emergencies after regularly scheduled work hours.

- Performs other miscellaneous job duties and related functions as needed.

Physical/Environmental/Chemical Hazards

- Sharp parts, sharp tooling, heavy carts, occasional hot and cold temperature and humidity levels, heat from ovens, moderate noise levels, limited hand and air tool use, compressed air (must use hearing protection).

- Must be able to lift 30-50 lbs. unassisted.

- Must be able to differentiate between color variance.

- Potential splash exposure near process lines.

- Various chemicals used in process.

Education/Qualifications

- 3 years of Management Experience in Chemistry, preferably in a manufacturing environment.

- Bachelors in Chemistry or equivalent experience required.

- Experience in metal finishing preferred but not required.
