Quality Control Chemist II for Products (SE) Pipe Line located in Bremen, GA. The QC Chemist II is responsible for detailed testing of refined petroleum products such as gasoline, diesel and jet fuel to confirm regulatory compliance.
- Testing of petroleum products in accordance with ASTM methodologies.
- Purchases and maintains adequate inventories of laboratory consumables.
- Maintain and update laboratory Standard Operating Procedures and Chemical Hygiene Plan as required
- Maintain laboratory integrity and apply proper housekeeping procedures.
- Coordinate oversight programs with terminals and third party laboratories.
- Work with Quality Control Manager to manage monthly expenses.
- Review product quality reports, maintain supporting documentation for all testing, calibration, and maintenance programs.
- Perform calibration checks, preventative maintenance and minor repair of laboratory equipment.
- Communicate with pipeline operations personnel to arrange sample collection for analysis.
- Provide data and technical support to the Product Quality Manager when handling off-spec products or issues.
- Perform other duties as requested or assigned
- Attend industry related conferences.- Bachelors Degree in Chemistry or applied sciences, and 3+ years of experience in a petroleum or analytical laboratory is desired.
- Prior experience in the petroleum or chemical industry or refinery experience a plus.
- Third Party Laboratory Information System initiation, customization, and training experience a plus.
- General chemistry knowledge and/or experience.
- Valid motor vehicle operators license and satisfactory driving record as determined by the Company
- Responsible for reporting critical data in a timely manner.
- Ability to keep flexible work schedule when required, focus attention on details, and follow established laboratory procedures.
- Self-motivated and capable of working with minimal supervision.
- Clearly communicate orally.
- Must be flexible and able to work effectively in a team environment, consistently maintain a professional demeanor and behavior with peers, clients, customers and representatives of various local, state and federal agencies.
- Mechanical aptitude and trouble shooting skills for the maintenance and minor repair of laboratory equipment.
- Must be able to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods of time
- Ability to perform occasional physical labor including bending, stooping, climbing stairs, ladders and platforms and lifting of 50 lbs.
- Working in a petroleum facility with pipeline, tank storage, and truck related activities.
