The Opportunity


Position: Chemical Technologist – Radiochemistry

Department: Radioactive Materials & Chemistry Services (RMC)


Reports to: Acting Section Manager, Analytical Chemistry


Hours per week: 40

The assignment will be in the Radioactive and Materials Chemistry department with an emphasis in the Radiochemistry area. The successful candidate will participate in investigations and technical studies for customers in one or more areas such as radiochemical characterization, complex sample preparations and chemical analysis and data processing. There is a high likelihood this role will support our new and exciting research and development department generating and purifying medical isotopes. The focus of the role will be delivering results to our shareholders with an emphasis on safety and quality.

Accountabilities: How You Will Make an Impact

Supports and complies with Kinectrics quality program.

Act as an authority on the safety of others.
Perform equipment and instrument calibrations according to establish procedures. Offer input for efficiencies and improvements.
Performs sample preparation and procedures related to the radiochemistry group and provides general lab support.
Follows Standard Operating Procedures/Technical work instructions (SOPs/TWIs) and specific Work Instructions (WIs) when conducting any laboratory work or procedure.
Ensures a high level of accuracy in sample preparation and analysis.
Employs proper laboratory techniques.
Identifies and communicates non-conformances to Supervisor.
Maintains training records and relevant qualifications.
Meets quality and TAT specifications required by the client and ensure samples are analyzed within holding time requirements.
Medically able to be (respirator) fit tested.
Willingness to work with radioactive materials and to work in contamination control areas (CCAs)
Keeps work area clean, neat and organized according to good housekeeping procedures.
Ability to exercise judgment and resourcefulness in resolving technical problems.
Ensure equipment is maintained properly. Perform calibrations, verifications, and validations.

What You Need to Succeed

Education: B.Sc. chemistry, biochemistry or related/equivalent programs
Additional training in radiochemistry or radiation safety is considered an asset
Knowledge of inorganic separations considered an asset with emphasis on separation
Must be proficient with various software (MS office). Experience with LIMS and SAP software considered an asset
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to work well and independently
Proven time management and attention to detail
