Job Description:
This is a critical support position for a busy utility construction company operating throughout New Mexico. As a Laborer, daily work will involve placement of fiber optic and copper or power cables, conduits, enclosures, vaults, cabinets, poles and related equipment. Most of the work is underground/excavation projects which includes frequent shovel work.
These crews are responsible for going into residential and commercial areas working on underground utilities and working with their crew to complete tasks for the day.

Essential Functions:
Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
•Provides mid-level laborer functions including hand digging with a shovel, setting up traffic control, entry level equipment operations, placing fiber, loading materials, etc. on various safety sensitive utility construction sites.
•Proficient with utility print and map reading
•Supports the setup and shut down of utility construction projects including traffic control in various conditions including highways, side streets, parking lots, downtown locations, etc.
•Trains alongside experience construction crews learning fiber installation, print reading, equipment operations, OSHA requirements, etc.
•Loads and unloads materials and equipment in from vehicles at construction yards and jobsites
•Assists in identifying hazards by utilizing the pre-task process.
•All phases of underground construction include but are not limited to: Loading, driving, delivery, digging, removal and placement of various types, sizes and weight of construction materials and equipment.
•Operate or work around heavy equipment and machinery.
•Perform general construction work under direction of Foreman/Supervisor
•Maintain safe working habits/conditions according to all regulations, procedures, and policies.

Experience and Education:
•State of Residence Driver License is required
•Approximately 1 - 3 year of experience in a laboring position in the utilities field.
•High School Diploma or equivalent required
Additional Requirements/Licenses/Certifications:
•Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid Class A CDL License is preferred
•Candidates must pass criminal and Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) background checks and pass a pre-employment drug screen.
