Position Description: As a Propane Bobtail Driver, your main responsibility is to operate a straight truck, bobtail, or large propane tank for refilling, facilitating the safe and timely delivery of propane to our valued clients. This full-time, non-exempt position reports directly to the department Manager.
Essential Job Functions:Proficiently operate all assigned vehicles, including those with manual transmissions.
Skillfully maneuver trucks into loading and unloading positions, ensuring precise alignment and proper positioning of any specialized loading equipment.
Load propane efficiently and safely at designated locations, using propane guns or nozzles.
Conduct routine maintenance checks on the truck, including monitoring oil and fuel levels, to ensure optimal performance.
Complete all pre-trip and post-trip requirements meticulously, ensuring thorough inspections and documentation.
Demonstrate physical capability to handle tasks such as pushing, pulling, carrying, and climbing ladders as required, including ability to push 96 pounds, pull 130 pounds, carry 54 pounds and climb ladder with a minimum of 3 rungs
Utilize company-provided technology effectively to streamline operations.
Read and complete written documentation accurately, including Bill of Lading, inventory records, and propane tickets, ensuring compliance with delivery instructions.
Safely transport propane from pickup to delivery points, adhering to all safety protocols and regulations.
Maintain detailed logs of vehicle service and repair status, in compliance with applicable state and federal regulations.
Collaborate with dispatch to plan the most efficient and effective delivery routes.
Deliver propane in precise quantities as directed by dispatch and accompanying paperwork.
Promptly report any DOT fines, citations, or other pertinent issues to dispatch and the safety department.
Communicate effectively with dispatch regarding any customer-related concerns or incidents, such as complaints, spills, leaks, accidents, injuries, or vehicle issues.
Coordinate with maintenance regarding any vehicle issues or maintenance needs, promptly reporting any issues for resolution.
Demonstrate professionalism, courtesy, and friendliness to customers and coworkers at all times.
Navigate hazardous driving conditions with confidence, including inclement weather, tight quarters, and inner-city locations.
Handle exposure to heavy traffic, dust, fumes, temperature extremes, slippery surfaces, low-lighted work areas, and high noise levels with professionalism and adherence to safety protocols.
Adhere to company quality, safety, and environmental guidelines, as well as policies outlined in the employee handbook.
Maintain regular and reliable attendance, demonstrating commitment and reliability in the workplace.
Possess good interpersonal skills, fostering positive relationships with customers and colleagues.
Perform duties effectively under high-stress situations, maintaining composure and focus.
Operate with constant alertness and prioritize safety in all tasks.
Fulfill any additional duties as assigned by management, contributing to the overall success and efficiency of the team.Qualifications/Experience/Education:Preferred 3+ years truck driving experience.
Valid CDL class B license with a Hazmat, Tanker, and Air Brakes endorsement.
Able to pass pre-employment DOT physical, drug screen, Clearinghouse verification, and 7-year criminal background check.
