Job Summary:
The Casting Engineer is responsible for the design, development, and optimization of metal casting processes. This role ensures that castings meet quality, cost, and production requirements. The Casting Engineer works closely with design, production, quality, and tooling teams to develop casting solutions for new and existing products.
Key Responsibilities:
•Design and optimize casting processes including gating and riser systems using simulation software (e.g., MAGMASOFT, ProCAST).
•Develop and review casting drawings, specifications, and work instructions.
•Collaborate with product and quality personnel to ensure castability and manufacturability of new components.
•Select appropriate casting methods and materials based on product requirements.
•Support tooling design and validate tooling for new or modified castings.
•Investigate and resolve casting defects and implement corrective actions.
•Create and maintain production instructions to ensure casting quality and process repeatability.
•Monitor process performance and recommend improvements for yield, quality, and productivity.
•Conduct root cause analysis for quality issues and support continuous improvement efforts.
•Ensure compliance with safety and environmental standards in casting operations.
Qualifications:
•Bachelor’s degree in Metallurgical Engineering, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
•2+ years of experience in casting engineering or foundry operations (internship or co-op experience may be considered).
•Strong knowledge of various casting processes (e.g., sand casting, investment casting).
•Familiarity with solidification simulation tools and CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD).
•Understanding of metallurgy, heat treatment, and quality standards (e.g., ASTM, ISO).
•Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
•Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
Preferred Qualifications:
•Experience working in a foundry or industrial manufacturing environment.
•Six Sigma or Lean Manufacturing experience.
•Knowledge of non-destructive testing (NDT) methods.

Pay: $60,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
