Position Summary:
The Carpenter reports directly to the Facilities Manager and is responsible for the safe construction, erection, installation and renovation of convenience store structures
Essential Job Functions:
•Reads blueprints, drawings and sketches to fully grasp requirements
•Takes measurements and calculates the size and amount of material needed
•Cuts, shapes and smooths lumber and other material according to measurement
•Builds window frames, doors, staircases and frame buildings by using raw materials or pre-constructed items
•Lays out floorings, roofing, or drywall ensuring they are leveled and compatible
•Inspects places and conducts repairs or maintenance
•Builds scaffolding and other necessary structures

Minimum Qualifications:
•High school diploma, or equivalent
•Completion of carpentry apprenticeship program
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:
•Extensive knowledge of power tools, including skill saw, miter saw and jigsaw
•Knowledge of lumber grades and countertop materials
•Understanding of carpentry techniques and methods of installation and construction
•Ability to read technical documents and drawings
•Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measurement
•Good verbal and written communication skills
Education:
•High school diploma, or equivalent (1 year of directly related work experience may qualify to substitute 1 year of education to meet the education requirement)
Required Training & Certificates:
•Attends training sessions, seminars and appropriate educational classes required by department.
•Computer skills commensurate with program and job applications.
