Carbide Welder Trainee

Description:

Understanding of methods to join, fabricate, and repair metal and other weldable material by applying appropriate welding techniques. Has some knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within the welding field. Capable of learning to perform duties in compliance with established industry standards and according to company practices.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Below job functions will be expected to be achieved in agreed upon timeframe as a Trainee

- Prior exposure brazing crushed and shaped carbide

- Set up and operate the welding machine to weld metal parts according to work orders, blueprint layouts, and verbal instructions.

- Ensure welds meet standards and specifications

- Secures parts and assemblies according to specifications, using a straight edge, combination square, calipers, and ruler.

- Tack-welds or welds components and assemblies, using electric, gas, arc, or other welding equipment.

- Removes rough spots from the workpiece, using a portable grinder, hand file or scraper.

- Ignites torch and adjusts valves, amperage, or voltage

- Cleans parts to remove contamination before welding.

- Uses inspection gauges such as verniers, scales, micrometers, and pin gages.

- Follows Graco Oilfield Services policies, practices, and procedures while working safely.

- Determines required equipment and welding methods, applying knowledge of metallurgy, geometry, and welding techniques.

- Conduct tests and inspections of products, services or processes to evaluate quality or performance.

- Perform routine maintenance on equipment and determine when and what kind of maintenance is needed.

- Performs other duties within his/her capabilities as determined and by management.

- Maintains safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations.

Requirements:

- High school diploma or equivalent; Vocational School

- Ability to use basic math skills

- Ability to read blueprints and tape measure

- Must be willing to submit to and pass, a pre-employment drug screen and criminal background check.

- Must have a valid driver’s license with a clear driving record.
