Camp maintenance personnel are required to undertake tasks involving both skilled trade and maintenance tasks and more rudimentary maintenance/repair experience on camp and utility support services. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
•Snow clearing of steps, landings and footpaths on a priority basis while supervising/monitoring/providing guidance to 3rd party snow clearing and as required.
•General repair to camp structures, interior structure finishing and exterior building envelope and skirting.
•Review and address daily maintenance tasks compiled by camp management.
•Inspect on a regular basis essential camp structure systems such as HVAC, Water, Sewage, LPG and Fire Suppression, making recommendations for upgrades and addressing immediate operational concerns with each system.
•Record and report on-site inventory levels of consumables such as fuel/LPG and potable water.
•Sort recyclable refuse and deposit into appropriate receptacles for off-site transport.
•Provide and maintain on-site for Terra’s exclusive use, one 4x4 truck.
•Collect potable water samples and analyze for free chlorine concentration, record the results and provide to camp management.
•Perform routine camp electric generator maintenance and switchover. Report any and all camp generator operational issues to camp manager and follow up on generator repairs with 3rd party supplier.
•Identify and manage all camp infrastructure tasks that require skill-certified 3rd party trades such as electricians and refrigeration techs.
•Maintain inventory levels of all maintenance and service parts/specialized tools required to ensure camp structures and support equipment is in full working order.
•Possess and maintain in good standing all required safety and specialized training certificates required by Terra’s and the client’s HSE programs and specific to the project site.
Education and experience:
•2+ years in remote work camp installation or maintenance.
•2+ years trades experience (required).
•Registered Apprentice enrolled in 2nd or 3rd year.
•AEC / DEP or Skilled Trade Certificate (required).
•Driver’s License (required).
Skills and competencies:
•Valid Driver’s License and Safety Tickets. Current 3-year driver’s abstract required.
•Maintenance, service and/or construction experience within the Camps and Catering and/or oil and gas industry, or equivalent.
•Knowledge of applicable industry and company codes, standards, regulations, and procedures.
•Be certified to operate light-duty construction equipment such as skid steer and aerial work platform to carry out tasks requiring the use of such equipment.
•Illustrate competency in the use of light-duty construction power and manual tools.
•Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment.
•Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships with others.
•Team builder, with demonstrated ability to pick quality talent and build high- performance teams.
•Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
•Self-motivated with the ability to work under minimal supervision.
•Ability to complete paperwork accurately in a timely manner.
•The ability to be flexible with regards to work location and rotational work schedule is a must, including the ability to travel away from home for as long as 2-3 weeks at a time.
