We are seeking a skilled CAD Designer / Drafting Specialist to support our team on a contract basis by creating and updating critical technical drawings on various projects.
Job Summary:
We are looking for a detail-oriented CAD Designer / Drafting Specialist to support our engineering team by generating and updating Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), plot plans, and electrical area classification drawings. The ideal candidate will have strong AutoCAD proficiency and experience in drafting for industrial or engineering projects.
Key Responsibilities:
•Create and revise Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) based on engineering specifications and redline markups.
•Update native .dwg files to reflect redline changes accurately and efficiently.
•Develop plot plans from scratch, ensuring compliance with project requirements and industry standards.
•Generate electrical area classification drawings in accordance with applicable codes and standards (e.g., NEC, API, or IEC).
•Collaborate with engineers and project managers to ensure drawings meet technical and quality standards.
•Maintain organized records of all drawings and revisions in accordance with company protocols.
•Perform quality checks to ensure accuracy, completeness, and adherence to project specifications.
Qualifications:
•Associate’s degree or technical certification in CAD drafting, engineering technology, or a related field.
•2-6 years of experience as a CAD Designer / Drafter, preferably in process engineering, oil & gas, or industrial engineering.
•Proficiency in AutoCAD (experience with other CAD software, such as MicroStation or Revit, is a plus).
•Strong understanding of P&IDs, plot plans, and electrical area classification drawings.
•Familiarity with industry standards and codes (e.g., ASME, API, NEC, or client-specific standards).
•Excellent attention to detail and ability to interpret and implement redline markups.
•Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
•Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet project deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications:
•Experience with 3D modeling software (e.g., AutoCAD Plant 3D, PDMS, or CADWorx).
•Knowledge of process engineering or industrial plant design.
•Familiarity with document management systems for drawing control.
