Cable Splicer Pre Qual Camp

We are currently seeking qualified candidates for a Cable Splicer Apprentice Pre-Qualification Camp, which will take place from September 15, 2025 through September 18, 2025 at Cedar Point Safety & Training Center. Participants will need to successfully complete the pre-qualification camp to move forward in the hiring process for the Apprentice Cable Splicer positions that are available within our IBEW 1464 F&M Service Center.

The Company has developed this job specific qualification program that each participant will be required to successfully complete prior to being considered for subsequent open apprentice positions. The program will consist of certain skill disciplines related to high-voltage power cable splicer work, such as ropes and knots, climbing ladders, gaining familiarity with tools necessary to perform work on network and underground power lines. There will also be classroom work with basic electricity, CPR and general math.

To be considered for participation, you must have experience in a related field and/or have attended or are currently attending a curriculum with power line technology.

There is no compensation for participation in this program. Meals and lodging will be furnished.

In addition to the pre-qualification requirement of successful completion of the Cable Splicer Camp program, in order to be placed in the pool of candidates for Apprentice Cable Splicer positions, the successful candidate must have a high school diploma or equivalent and must possess a valid driver’s license. A CDL permit will be required before entering any apprentice position with Evergy.
