Sawdust Studio is a high-end architectural millwork and cabinetry company located in Austin, TX. We design, fabricate, and install premium custom woodwork for commercial and residential spaces. Position Overview:
We are hiring a Cabinet Finisher to prepare, sand, stain, and finish cabinetry and millwork components in our spray booth and prep areas. This role is ideal for someone who has experience in woodworking or coatings and takes pride in delivering a flawless final product. You’ll work closely with the production team to maintain high finishing standards and meet project deadlines.
Key Responsibilities (Include but not limited to):
•Prep surfaces for finishing, including sanding, filling, and cleaning
•Mix and apply stains, paints, lacquers, and topcoats per spec
•Operate HVLP spray guns and other finishing tools
•Maintain clean, organized finishing areas and proper material storage
•Follow safety protocols for flammable materials and ventilation systems
•Inspect work for consistency, quality, and color match
•Collaborate with shop leads to ensure accurate finish schedules and sequencing
•Assist with touch-ups, repairs, and packaging as needed
Qualifications:
•1–3 years experience in cabinet or furniture finishing preferred
•Knowledge of stains, clear coats, conversion varnish, and paint systems
•Ability to operate spray equipment and maintain proper spray technique
•Attention to detail and a strong work ethic
•Willingness to follow direction and improve technical skills
•Ability to lift and move large parts with care
•Reliable, punctual, and a team player
Bonus Skills:
•Color-matching and custom finish mixing experience
•Knowledge of wood species and how they react to different finishes
•Familiarity with sanding equipment and masking techniques
•Experience in high-end residential or commercial millwork finishing

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $15.00 - $25.00 per hour
