CITGO owns and operates three refineries and ranks as the fifth-largest and one of the most complex independent refiners in the United States, with a combined crude capacity of approximately 807,000 barrels per day. CITGO supplies a network of approximately 4,000 locally owned and independently operated branded retail outlets located east of the Rocky Mountains.

Role Description

This is an internship role for a Buyer Intern at CITGO, located on-site in Downers Grove, IL. The Buyer Intern will assist in purchasing materials, equipment, and services. Responsibilities include preparing and processing purchase orders, negotiating with suppliers, and maintaining accurate records of transactions. The intern will gain hands-on experience in procurement activities, support inventory management, and participate in vendor management and selection processes.

Qualifications

- Basic understanding of Procurement, Supply Chain Management, and Inventory Management

- Strong analytical, negotiation, and problem-solving skills

- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and Word

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills

- Attention to detail and organizational skills

- Ability to work independently and as part of a team

- Relevant coursework or experience in Business, Supply Chain, or related fields is beneficial

- Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, or a related field

Compensation is based on the number of completed credit hours and ranges from $19.96 to $29.94 per hour. Application deadline is 9/30/2025.
