Are you motivated to become an expert on our Petro-Canada Retail business relating to fuel volumes and competitive Share Of Market (SOM)? As an integral member of the Business Planning & Analysis Retail team, bringing your strong analytical capabilities, communication skills, and technical background, you will provide critical insights to senior leadership teams and stakeholders to enable action and informed decision-making on business planning, volume forecasts, fuel pricing tactics and marketing programs/activities. You will work closely with business to deliver integrated analytics and support key initiatives and programs with the development of business cases, performance and post-investment reviews.
- A University or College degree with a focus in either Business, Marketing, or Finance
- Proven critical thinking and analytical skills/mindset with the ability to resolve complex business reporting problems quickly and effectively
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to translate data into meaningful insights for the business and senior leaders
- Continuous improvement mindset to improve performance reporting/insights
- Technical understanding of data & analytics capabilities and the supporting technologies, Power queries/automate, Power Bi, Azure etc. is preferred
- An understanding of Retail fuel markets across Canada and knowledge of Suncor’s Retail business relationships, strategic drivers and business economics is preferred
- Compile, analyze and present competitive monthly/quarterly fuel share of market results and key insights across Canada
- Leverage fuel share of market reporting and visualizations to extract insights, identify trends, and support strategic decision-making for Sales & Marketing stakeholders
- Collaborate closely with our third-party providers for fuel and car wash benchmarking data to optimize data processes, and maximize value to our business
- Lead the annual competitive site census analytical review which informs competitive strategies, and highlight opportunities and/or concerning trends for Suncor
- Act as a business consultant by providing decision support and recommendations to an extensive range of Retail business partners, such as Marketing, Pricing, Network Planning, Strategies and Operations
- Benchmark Suncor’s retail performance against market peers using third-party data sources and internal financial analyses to identify strategic opportunities and competitive positions
- Ensure timely, accurate and factual business performance insights and knowledge which enables prudent management of the business
- Act as subject matter expert on financial modelling and provide ongoing analytics for select key Retail initiatives and projects
- Support Retail budgeting and forecasting across Canada using historical and growth trends in addition to input from the business
- Act as an active participant on various project teams; responsible for performance reporting, analytics and insights
- You will work out of our Calgary head office, located in the Suncor Energy Centre at 150 – 6th Ave S.W
- Hours of work are a regular 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday, with the potential for extended work hours based on business needs
- Our business professional roles follow internal compensation guidelines and the pay band will generally be based years of experience and scope of work
