Business Development Director, Energy and Utility Testing
Hours of work: Full-time (37.5 hrs/wk) Flexible Work Role: Resident
Powertech provides specialized testing and investigation services to support electrical utilities’ capital assets: generation,
transmission and distribution, OEMs, automotive manufacturers, government and research organizations. As an
independent, third-party testing facility, we adhere to the highest laboratory (ISO 17025), quality (ISO 9001) and
environmental (ISO 14001) management standards.
Reporting to the CEO & President, you will be pivotal in driving business growth and elevating Powertech as a trusted
partner in the electrical utility sector and among the original equipment manufacturers (OEM) that serve it. We have a broad
array of services for product development, technology testing, interoperability testing, condition assessment, forensic and
failure analysis, and power system analysis. As the Director of Business Development, you will focus on identifying
business opportunities and expanding our customer base. You will drive a team of business development professionals to
implement marketing strategies and cultivate new business partnerships.

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, Science, or other related field. A post-graduate degree, such as a Master of
Business Administration or other Masters’ program, is an asset.
10+ years of proven business development and marketing experience preferably in power industry (electrical utility industry
and/or Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs). Strong expertise in identifying profitable business opportunities and
building client relationships in North America and internationally. Previous experience in the utility, energy sector and/or
engineering consulting is an asset. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Senior-level leadership and management experience within large, complex environments: exemplary track record of
leadership and emotional intelligence, with the ability to effectively lead, motivate, and manage a team of marketing and
business development professionals based in different locations.
Market Analysis and Negotiation Skills: Bold strategic thinking with sharp business acumen and entrepreneurial experience
that will support your success in developing and implementing long-term growth strategies. Expertise in negotiating and
closing business deals, managing proposals, and analyzing market trends, competitors and customer behaviour. Effective
communication skills with the ability to engage internal/ external customers and stakeholders on a wide variety of strategic
initiatives.
CRM Expertise: Experience with CRM systems and their implementation to support business development initiatives.
Persuasive and effective communication skills, with the ability to readily engage internal and external customers and
stakeholders on a wide variety of strategic initiatives.
