Job Description
Position Summary: The Burn Helper works under close supervision to remove parts off table, clean and tag parts and projects that require minimal experience or training.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Proper use overhead cranes to bring in materials and load tables in compliance with company quality standards.
• Identify various metals and alloys such as mild steel, aluminum, and stainless.
• Use measuring devices and gauges to determine thickness and size of metal.
• Use oxygen/acetylene torch for cutting metals.
• Use grinder and other hand or power tools required to grind, bevel and remove slag.
• Read blue prints to determine what needs to be cut and where the parts go next.
• Maintain work area and equipment in a clean orderly condition and follow prescribed safety procedures.
Skills and Specifications:
• Knowledge and ability to use hand and power tools associated with prep work, grinding and oxygen/acetylene torch including setup or connection of hoses, cords, and regulators.
• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions and blue prints.
• Knowledge and ability to use common measuring instruments and hand tools such as tape measure, square, file or rasp.
• Solid problem-solving skills.
• Ability to contribute and work in a team environment.
• Ability to demonstrate accuracy and thoroughness to ensure first quality of work.
• Ability to establish and maintain healthy working relationships with people in course of work.
• Willingness to work additional hours in order to meet tight deadlines.
Education and Qualifications:
• High School diploma or equivalent (GED).
