Position Summary
Deliver best-in-class service to the oil and gas, marine, and energy markets by listening, applying intelligence, and responding—every time. The Building Division is responsible for creating high-quality manufactured materials to client specifications for all Point Eight Power Building projects, primarily using sheet metal. The Blaster's primary role is to prepare building components for production by expertly cleaning surfaces through abrasive blasting. The objective of this position is to meet defined production standards, schedules, and quality requirements while maintaining a safe and organized work environment. Consistent representation of Point Eight Power’s brand, mission, vision, and values is essential to the organization's success.
Essential Responsibilities:
•Support the effort of being a best-in-class manufacturer through the preparation of high-quality building components
•Preparing building assemblies by abrasive blasting according to project specifications.
•Operating blasting equipment to remove scale, grease, rust, dirt, and other contaminants from sheet metal surfaces.
•Inspecting blasted surfaces to ensure readiness for subsequent manufacturing processes.
•Maintaining a clean, organized, and hazard-free work area in accordance with safety standards.
•Completing tasks efficiently, aiming to meet or exceed estimated production hours.
Measures:
•Performance objectives and related measures are determined in relation to the Strategic Plan and Point Eight Power’s "Policy," Objectives, Leadership Commitment and Communication" procedure.
•All employees contribute jointly to the effectiveness and success of the company by adhering to established policies, procedures, and the Point Eight Power Business Management System.
Qualifications
Education/Certifications
•High School Diploma or GED required.
Experience
•Minimum of 1 to 3 years’ experience in industrial or commercial blasting operations required.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
•Intrapersonal Skills: Self-motivated with a strong regard for guidelines, procedures, and integrity.
•Production and Processing: Understanding of raw materials, production processes, and quality control techniques.
•Mechanical: Knowledge of blasting equipment, including blast pots, dust collectors, and recovery units.
•Safety Awareness: Ability to recognize and mitigate hazards in an industrial environment.
•Verbal & Written Communication Skills: Ability to read and interpret work orders, safety rules, and operating instructions.
•Math Skills: Basic arithmetic (add, subtract, etc.) for material counts and measurements.
•Physical Dexterity: Steady hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity for precision blasting.
Physical Demands/Working Conditions
•Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
•Ability to sit, climb, balance, hear, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms.
•Work environment may include exposure to high heat, humidity, mechanical parts, electrical shock, and toxic or caustic chemicals.
•Frequent exposure to airborne particles; personal protective equipment (PPE) required.
•Must be able to stand and walk for long periods (8–10 hours per shift).
•Frequent bending, stooping, and material handling tasks.
Hours/Overtime
•Monday to Friday, 6:00 AM to 5:00 PM or 3PM to 12AM
•Must be open to working some weekends as needed based on production demands.
