Position Description:
To prepare alcoholic and nonalcoholic drinks and serve them to bar patrons or wait staff from the restaurant, to maintain stock of liquor and bar supplies, and to collect money and account for drinks served. In some instances, the bartender also performs as the cashier for the dining room.
Work Performed:
•Maintain proper and adequate set-up of the bar on a daily basis. This includes requisitioning and stocking of all beer, wine, spirits, paper products, straws and stirrers, condiments and produce.
•Responsible for maintaining stock, cutting, and storing of all fresh fruit and vegetable garnishes, juices and other perishables daily to insure product quality.
•Greets guests in a courteous and friendly manner, promotes and documents orders for drinks. Mixes, garnishes and presents drinks ensuing standard ingredient recipes and practicing prudent portion control
•Assist in making simples and infusions
•Inputs orders into a register at the point of sale and creates a check for each guest and personnel guests, including those served by other beverage servers, to maintain accountability of all beverages served in accordance to standard operating procedures.
•Receives payment from guests, makes any change needed, verifies validity of charges, records charges, and insures vouchers are properly executed, in order to balance all money.
•Locks up and stores all beverages, food and other equipment items, deposits cash drops and secures bank.
•Keeps bar neat, and clean, and displays glasses and liquors attractively.
•Responsible for maintaining pleasant atmosphere in bar, refusing to serve drunk or unruly patrons, and having them ejected if necessary.
•Ability to communicate with civility and respect with FOH and BOH staff
•Other duties as assigned such as assisting security with disorderly guests.
•All other projects as assigned by management.
Physical Requirements:
•Ability to stand and work in confined spaces for 8 to 10 hour shifts.
•Ability to walk, reach, bend, stoop and wipe to perform essential job functions.
•Ability to lift and carry supplies and equipment up to 50 pounds and place items on high and low shelves.
•Ability to work under pressure and deal with stressful situations during busy periods.
Required Experience:
•Must adhere to all State, Federal and Corporate liquor regulations pertaining to serving alcoholic beverages to minors and intoxicated guests to insure all laws are being followed.
•Complete knowledge of drink (cocktail) recipes and liquor, beer, and wine.
•Basic mathematical skills necessary to operate a cash register or POS system, make change, total guest checks, count total bank, prepare cash drops, total all other charges, and understand portion sizes.
•Ability to read, speak and understand the English language in order to communicate with guests and take orders.
Training & Experience:
2 Years Bartending experience required. Work well with or without direct supervision. Must be flexible to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the restaurant. Must be able to perform all related duties as assigned. Food Handling, CPR, First Aid certificates preferable. Must attend Alcohol Awareness training program. Must be able to legally prove age of at least 21 years.
